Greensomes Cup

Greensomes Cup

Greensomes Cup (Active Competition)

This is traditionally a one-day Greensomes stableford competition open to all Female    and Male members and played over 18 holes on the Sharnbrook course to be played in accordance with the following rules:

Both players tee off and then choose which ball to play from there. The player whose tee shot is not chosen plays the second shot, and they then play alternate shots from there until the ball is holed out. On the next hole, both players again tee off and the process is repeated. There is nothing to stop the same player’s drive being selected all the way round. If a provisional ball is to be played it must be played by the player who did not take the previous shot.

  1. The handicap allowance for each pair (4 shots added to female handicaps) in each match will be 1/2 of the combined difference between one pair and the other.

  2. All players starting at hole number one.

  3. The competition will be run under the Greensomes format: – (as given above)

  4. Winners will be decided by the highest points scored.

  5. If there is a tie after 18 holes the winner will be decided by taking the lowest nett score over the last 9 holes of the course. If there is still a tie then the procedure will be repeated for the last 6 holes then the last 3 holes, last hole, then hole by hole starting at the last hole working backwards, until a winner is established (see calculation method page 4 and handicap allowance calculation sheet page 17).
